GOOD - Morphine

Una regola della musica dice che solitamente la prima canzone dell'album d'esordio dei grandi gruppi è un capolavoro (tanto per fare alcuni esempi “Break on trough” dei Doors, ”Sunday morning” dei Velvet Undergrounds, ”Disorder” dei Joy Division ecc). E in tanti avranno pensato questa cosa al primo ascolto di Good (1992), facendosi accogliere dalle prime note della title track. I Morphine ci trascinano nel loro post-jazz fatto di bassi a due corde e sax, percussioni ipnotiche, una voce (quella del compianto Sandman) profonda e desolata, eccitata ma al tempo stesso monotona. E fanno volare la mente verso locali invasi dal fumo di sigarette, frequentati da ubriaconi, puttane e sbandati vari. Ascoltare “Good” è come ascoltare un gruppo punk al Blue Note,è come ascoltare B.B King suonare una canzone new wave, è come ascoltare tutto quello che conosciamo e non conosciamo, partendo dal primo blues del Missisipi per arrivare ai Gun Club e a Nick Cave. In sole due parole, ascoltare tutto questo è veramente So Good.
